Brody's number one wish every day is to go outside. So, today we bundled him up and went to play in the snow. Brody loved the snow and thought it was funny until the cold hit him. We had quite the battle when it was time to come inside. Brody was not happy at all.
Brody must have been on Santa's favorite list. He received very nice gifts for staying off the naughty list. We had a lot of fun playing with all the new toys. He wasn't quite into opening his gifts yet, but he sure was impatient about trying to get the toys out of the boxes. I can't believe that manufacturers actually screw toys into the box? What's that all about?
Brody saw Santa in Chicago this year. We celebrated a week early with Nana and Papa Sample. Brody got a big wheel and looked like such a big boy on it.

My baby literally amazes me. I have nothing to compare his knowledge to, since he is our only child, but WOW!!!! Today, Brody is sick and we are watching My Baby Can Read together. Brody reads the words on the screen like it's nothing. He can either speak the word or act out the word before any audio response. UNBELIEVABLE. I totally recommend this DVD set. I need to video record this sometime, because I think some folks wouldn't believe me. Crazy! Okay, I'm done bragging on my sweet man. 
Brody and I went to visit Grandma Farmhouse and Aunt Dinah on Monday. We made cookies and banana cake. Brody was our cookie tester. He, of course, loved them all. Brody was memorized by the kitties hanging out in the kitchen window. Brody also seemed scared of Uncle Gerald, but then warmed up after Uncle Gerald played ball with him. 
Brody tries to wear me down on a daily basis. He begs and pleads to go outside. He'll even turn on the tears and whine. Finally, once and a while I can't take it anymore and I bundle the little dude up and let him have his way. The poor baby's snotty nose freezes to his face and I'm sure he's bitterly cold crawling around on the ground and swinging, but he loves it. 
So, lately Brody has been disturbed by a few objects in his environment. A usually pleasant ride on a Jeep seemed too much to bear. Plus, a lovely shopping trip to every kids dream place (aka ToysRus) was VERY frightening. Brody discovered a cool dinosaur at the toy mecca, but much to his dismay, it was interactive. The dinosaur, named Spike, said hello by ROAAARRRRING in Brody's face. This sent Brody retreating and in hysterics while Daddy laughed and mommy came running down the isles to his rescue. Ahhh the drama. My sweet baby. I love you, Broderick Eugene!
During the daily rearranging of the cabinets, Brody finds that it is fun to put himself in the pot. He walked around the house holding the pot and it is quite heavy. 
Daddy's birthday was this week. Brody was quite happy to help mama make daddy his favorite cake...cherries cheese cake! Brody was of course the taste tester and clean up crew. Brody made his first birthday card for daddy. He scribbled him a great picture! Our little man is really growing up.
For the last two days, Brody has methodically rearranged the cabinets. It is amazing how much time and concentration he spends pulling the items out and putting them back. He is quite careful to set each item upright (usually). He does get frustrated and push them away at times too. His mama and dada are a bit OCD about certain things too. Poor kid. :0)
On November 6th, Brody turned 18 months. Can you believe it? He is now walking a lot more and his vocabulary is amazing. He can say two word sentences and HE SINGS! Every morning Brody grabs his "B" (baby glow worm) and squeezes the belly and a lullaby starts to play. Brody sings me the song by saying Dooo do da do da do do do. It is just the cutest thing. His daddy says he sounds "special". Brody had his 18 month well check. The doctor said he is doing great. His weight was 31 pounds and his height was 35 1/2 (but the height seems to fluctuate depending on who is measuring). Brody received two shots and this time daddy was there and got to be the bad guy. :0)
Brody was fired up for the Halloween parade. We had so much fun and scored a huge loot of candy. Brody was a dancing bug. He grooved so hard to the marching bands, I thought he was going to hurt himself. I was only able to get two pictures on this day, since he was so busy!
Brody and his playgroup buddies went on a field trip to the zoo yesterday. We had a blast. Brody rode around in his wagon and pointed out all the animals. Brody's favorite saying is "what's that?". So all around the zoo, we heard "WHAT'S THAT?" with great excitement. Brody's favorite part of the day was watching the seals eat lunch. He squealed with delight. The weather was in the 60's and not raining for the whole day! Woo hoo! I've about had enough rain for a while. Please do a NON rain dance for tomorrow's Halloween events and Saturday too!
